I was riding on a bus this morning and luckily, the transport had a television. The TV was set to a local station featuring a morning show. My attention was caught by a news that explained the oldest electric car in California. Imagine, the electric car was still running and the owner is still using it as his means of transportation. I really don't see any problem with that. But what's funny is the old electric car is a total junker, and it should be seen in a museum not in the streets or roads.

Actually, there's more in the electric car story. After the old clunker electric car, the story tackled the latest electric cars manufactured in California. The cars are actually elegant looking. More like a Ferrari car. The speed, functions, and specs of the latest electric cars are even compared to some of the leading sports car models and other gas burning vehicles today. It was also showed in the morning show that the electric cars were test driven by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Aside from the fancy features and excellent specs, the use of the latest electric cars in California are actually a superb means to save fuel and energy. Since the electric cars do not need fuel to function, you will surely save a great deal of money from your car expenses. Also, since you do not use fuel with such cars, you'll be doing a great deal of effort in preventing air pollution.

There's a lot ways to conserve electricity. One of them is through cutting down of our cooling bill. Actually, you can do it in a number of ways. First, adjust your air conditioner thermostat to 75 degrees. You can also use portable fans and ceiling fans to circulate air. Also, open the windows early in the morning to cool air inside and close them later in the day when the temperature goes up. Another way is by closing your blinds and curtains in the afternoon to lower the amount of sunlight that heats up your home. Use also microwaves or fix cold meals on hot days to keep your appliances from warming up your home. It is advisable to hang the laundry on a clothesline to avoid warming up your home with a clothes dryer. It is recommended to run dishwasher, clothes dryer, etc. in the evening when it's cooler.
You can also plant deciduous trees in the yard to provide shade during the summer. Also, make sure your home is well insulated. Take the shower during the middle of the day and use cool water to help cool yourself off. Every month, make sure that you clean your air conditioner filters. Replace them every after three months. Furthermore, close vents to rooms you don't use often and avoid them being blocked by furniture, carpeting, etc. When not inside the kitchen and bath, turn off the fans there. Make sure you do not put lights or heat producing appliances or electronics near your air conditioner's thermostat. Also, use window treatments that filter the sunlight during the day. In case you are building or remodeling your house, use a passive solar design. Lastly, it is recommended to install the most efficient cooling system you can afford.

There are various reasons why we should conserve energy. Yet in the end, all these purposes fall only into two: environmental and personal. Not only do we save energy to lessen pollution and conserve energy reserve, but we also watch and control our energy consumption for practical reasons. In other words, we conserve energy in order to limit the outflow of our financial resources.
People can do plenty of things in order to wisely manage their energy consumption. Yet, among the best approaches they can take is the usage of better insulation system in order to effectively retain both cool and warm air. Apparently, among the home appliances that consume the highest amounts of energy are air conditioners and heaters.
The reality is that most of the cool or warm air produced by the machines escape outside due to poor insulation. However, this waste of energy can be resolved by checking and improving the insulation of a house. In connection to this, it is also important to replace cooling and heating appliances with new models since the latest home appliances are designed for energy conservation. This is of course a perfect option if you have the budget. If you don't, you can still conserve energy through other means.

There are many kinds of energy, water, solar, wind, and atomic energy. But the most frequently used is the electrical energy because almost all households have electricity and different appliances that consume electricity. Though there are many sources of energy, we still have to do energy conservation.
The ways on energy conservation are very simple. You can start in your house by simply turning off the lights in the parts of your house that are not occupied. And if it is not necessary to have light do not switch it on. Overhead lighting is preferable than task lighting. But the best is the natural light from the sun. When it comes to your appliances, avoid or lessen the use of fans, desk fountains, and heaters if possible. Put off the coffee pot at noontime everyday. It is better to use appliances that can function with a battery. Do not leave your television sets open and refrain from always opening the refrigerator. If your place is tropical and is really hot it is good if you have proper house vegetation to bring more air. Hence it will lessen the use of many fans. Conservation of energy means saving money.

Unknown to some of us, it takes a lot of energy to produce the things that we make use in everyday life. Therefore, it is advised that we learn how to recycle so that we can help conserve energy. How so? It is quite simple actually. Recycling uses less energy to reuse the materials at hand compared to making brand-new materials. Therefore, grind whatever it is that needs to be grinded so that they can be recycled. That's not the only way that people can help conserve energy. In fact, there are several ways that you can partake. One of these is to make certain that the car is properly tuned up. What in the world is the connection of tuned up cars and energy consumption? Well, cars that are tuned with acceptable oil filters as well as clean air can actually use less gas. Therefore, you get to save more gas as well as some cash.
Another way that you can help save energy using your car is to make sure that the tires are inflated properly. Also, make sure that the car that you are riding is not overloaded. An additional hundred pounds will lessen your car's mileage by at least one mile for every gallon. Next, you can opt to purchase a car which gives more mileages per gallon. Doing so will guarantee that you'll get your money's worth.

When the end of the month comes, you usually worry about the high electricity bills you have to pay. Now that the summer season is already here, your electric bills can drastically increase because you will turn on once again your air conditioners. Despite that, there are still a number of ways to conserve electricity and save your money.
One of the things you can do is to turn off the lights you are not using. Before you leave the room, also make sure that you have turned off all your appliances such as electric fans, air conditioners, and others. If you will not come back to the room immediately, unplug these things because they still use electricity. Believe it or not, but cleanliness in your house can also save electricity. As such, it is important to clean your home's light fixtures everyday or every week.
If you want to maximize the lights that your lamps produce, then put them in the corners of your house. When you do this, the light bounces and it makes your room brighter. Also use dimmable light bulbs because these take up less electricity unlike other light bulbs.

Have you been wondering why on earth are you paying so much on your energy bills? When all you did was open the heater or the cooler? Well, maybe it's because of your dirty filters, which reduces the circulation of air, and its ventilation. Now, it's a simple task, all you have to do is whip out those cleaning cloths, and you can get started.
Dirty filters lessens the heating or the cooling of any air filtering system in your homes. That's why it's best that you clean your filters regularly. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about replacing your filters, or even your heaters or coolers every now and then. Just by simply cleaning the filters regularly, would greatly reduce your energy bills.

Doing the laundry every week may not seem like a big task in the household list of chores, but when the monthly bills come, it has a lot to say. Laundry requires electricity for the washing machine, for the dryer, and even for the water.
Laundry consumes massive amount of water, plus, the water heating process adds to the energy consumption. It is in fact one of the major factors affecting the increase of your monthly electric bill. Almost 90 per cent of electricity or energy is consumed just by heating water. So, for everyone who's doing their laundry at home, just opt for lukewarm water or cold water, it makes no difference to your clothes, but a lot of difference in your monthly bill.

In every house, there are windows, and when it's winter time, the windows have to stay shut. The house temperature relies on the windows so if you keep them shut, air would not circulate inside your homes. If your windows have single panes, you should replace them with energy-efficient double pane windows with non-conducting window frames. That way you can save on your heating systems at home.
You can lessen the thermostat heat insulations, hence, you save up!

The coldness of the past winter season may be enough for some people to think that they have saved some money on their water bill.
Even though you have cut down on your shower time, or have given up on taking a bath altogether, you may have overlooked the fact that you have a high-flow shower head or that your faucets have been leaking. Leaks are usual during the cold weather and to avoid this problem, it is important that we should check on our bathroom use during this time.

Winter has come and gone, but some homes are keen on using their fireplaces to keep their respective abodes warm all year long. However, the use of these fireplaces are actually absorbing heat energy within the house. Thus, homes are keeping off about twenty percent of heat.
To conserve energy and maintain warmth, it is recommended that burning fire inside the house should only be allowed during the occasions and holidays. The dampers should be sealed tight when the fireplace is not used. Clean fireplace areas are also important in conserving energy.

This is the case when you lessen the use of your car air conditioner; once you get into the habit, you will learn that you are saving on the gas at the same time. That is great news, especially in these times of high oil prices. So, the next time you take the car for a ride, let some fresh air in for a change.

If you think that energy conservation is only limited to your homes, think again. Energy is used everywhere; in our homes, offices, and public establishments. Help make a difference in your office and conserve energy. Whenever possible, just use your email rather than using the fax machine or the copying machine. That way, you only use one electronic device. During breaks or meetings, put the computer in sleep mode, and the most practical thing to do, if not in use, switch off the lights and everything else.

In as much as modern methods of cooking have evolved, there are still a lot of gas and heat energy consumed during this activity. Fortunately, we can do our part and take some simple steps in maximizing energy while cooking. For instance, placing the medium-sized pans or pots over relatively small burners rather than over turbo burners can provide sufficient heat for the food to be cooked. Turning off the burner a few minutes earlier can also conserve energy because heat can still emanate from the burner and that should be enough to let the food simmer.

The television is one of the modern and cheapest ways of escapism and entertainment. We spend a number of hours each day in front of the boob tube, watching our favorite shows and surfing through the channels. Thus, our energy is being consumed for most of the day just by watching TV. Before we get shocked by our monthly electrical bill, let us learn to turn off the TV properly, and that means not just switching the off control on our remotes, but also pulling the plug or setting off the circuit altogether. This way, we can ensure that the flow of electricity has ceased and we can sleep the night away without worrying about accidents or the bills we have to pay.
