With all of the household appliances people use today, it's no wonder that a single person's carbon footprint can contribute so much to Mother Nature's destruction. Fortunately, more and more people today are becoming more environmentally conscious. If you want to do your part in saving Mother Earth without neglecting your household chores, here are some energy saving tips for your home:
Energy saving tip 1: Do a batch laundry with your washing machine.
To maximize your washing machine's load capacity, do your laundry in batches. An example is to wash your clothes every Saturday. Avoid doing laundry everyday in small batches. Doing this means wasting a lot of water, detergent, electricity, and energy.
Energy saving tip 2: Schedule the use of appliance that take up so much energy (irons, air conditioner,etc.).
One household appliance that uses a lot of energy is your clothes iron. To save on electricity, set a schedule on when to use your clothes iron. Instead of ironing clothes everyday, you can simply do it once a week in larger batches.
Energy saving tip 3: Consider buying home appliances with good energy ratings.
Many modern household appliances with energy ratings are now being offered to energy-conscious consumers. An energy label basically says that a certain appliance meets the standards for energy-saving devices and equipment, and that it consumes less electricity compared to appliances with no energy label. Appliances with energy ratings include washing machines, dishwashers, microwave ovens, and airconditioners.
By simply following these tips, you're sure to save on energy and electricity bills. Aside from these tips, you can also opt for alternative sources of energy for your home.

The microwave is such a handy kitchen equipment. However, regular use of a microwave also means spending more money on electricity bills. To help you save energy when using a microwave, here are some tips worth checking out:
Set the right temperature on your microwave oven.
Each type of food will require a specific heating temperature. for simple sandwiches, one minute in the microwave should do the trick. As for leftovers, two to three minutes in the microwave should be enough.
Use containers and dishes on your microwave with good heat retention.
Containers with good heat retention are those labeled as microwave-safe thermal containers. Always double-check the product labels of microwave-safe containers and dishes to see if they can help you save on energy.
Regularly clean the interior of your microwave.
Food debris, drippings, and particles left inside your microwave can affect its heat efficiency. To make sure your microwave produces enough heat for the food being cooked, regularly clean the interior of your microwave.
Using a microwave instead of a conventional oven is already an energy saving technique. However, to further improve your energy saving goals, follow these tips and reminders.

More people around the globe are expressing their worried concern on the continuing conflict in the Middle East, as well as the continuous increase of pump and gas prices. In line with such issue, a recent survey shows that many people are now changing their lifestyle and habits with regard to the high cost of gas. The good things about the saving attitude practiced by most folks today are they will be able to improve their money saving strategies, maximize fuel more efficiently, as well as survey various local gas prices before filling up.
Saturday, May 5. 2007
The Internet is your best pal when it comes to researching and comparing gas prices. Now, if you are on the road and you cannot browse through the Internet, just keep in mind that stations that are adjacent to major freeways are likely to be more expensive compared to stations a few blocks away. Moreover, warehouse clubs, including BJ's Wholesale Club and Sam's Club have stations across the country that offer discount gas prices.

There are lots of tips and tricks to save some of your hard earned dough on your monthly energy bills. But sometimes, common sense is the best tool to provide yourself with the most appropriate and efficient means of saving more on your monthly energy bills. For instance, you could easily realize that insulating the pipes coming out of your actual water heater would evidently save more on your monthly water-heating expenses. If you ever are as logical and as efficient in using what's between your ears as me, that is.
Wednesday, May 2. 2007
Providing insulation to the pipes that come out of your functional water heater would evidently make the water coming out of it longer to cool itself down. This would mean, of course, that you don't actually have to pump out more damn hot water so as to keep the first gallons of water nice and warm. Logically, you would have to know by now that the more you use your functional water heater, the more it eats up on your monthly energy consumption. Picking just the right materials for insulating your water pipes would be a better thing for you to worry on than such things as not taking a hot shower at all during cold winter weather!
Tuesday, May 1. 2007
Getting just the right insulation materials for your pipes would not only save more on your monthly energy bills, but it would also keep you and your house safe from fires. Take something that could be wrapped up around constantly hot pipes. Hard rubber insulation materials would be the best option, since this stuff doesn't burn itself with the temperature levels your actual water heater could muster. Another good move for you to take would be to consult the manufacturer of your functional water heater regarding the best insulation materials to use in wrapping up your pipes.

No, you just can't jump into a cold shower in winter, even if you actually have seen a good and sexy blockbuster flick on your high-tech digital TV, you know. That's what water heaters are for: to heat up the water you're gonna use on your showers on any damn cold weather day. Water heaters are as essential as spicy food and a nice bottle of Scotch. Yet, you just can't conserve on your monthly energy bills if you plan on using your water heaters inefficiently. So, you should regularly turn down the thermostat levels of your water heaters to 120 degrees.
Sunday, April 29. 2007
Water heaters can consume huge amounts of energy, thus it could also eat up a lot of your hard earned cash. So if you're running low on those nuggets, saving some of it out of your monthly energy bills could be as life-saving as it could actually be energy efficient. Regularly turning it down could save you at least 10% on your monthly energy bills. Plus, turning it to no damn higher whatsoever than 120 sweaty degrees could do this, you know.
Saturday, April 28. 2007
Water that comes out of your tap after it has gone through your water heaters could provide you with a damn good shower during winter. But, it could also break the bank in case you don't use it as efficiently as most energy-saving people of the world. Actually turning it to a thermostat level that is no damn higher whatsoever than 120 sweaty degrees could save up to an actual 10% on your monthly energy bills. This is because a thermostat level of any heater set to less than 120 sweating degrees is enough to provide you with a good hot shower wherever you are in the world.

Saving on your actual energy bills is a good option since you just might have enough cash left to treat yourself to good gourmet meals every once and again. In this case, I would have to ask you this: what usually pops up in your mind when you have a damn good idea? No, not your drug and alcohol trips. I wasn't thinking of that, you know. I'm talking about the first damn thing that comes into your mind. Yes, light bulb. So, did you know that unscrewing the light bulbs in your home would reduce your actual energy bills enough so as to have a decent meal?
Thursday, April 26. 2007
Light bulbs are usually found in most American homes, studies have shown. I think of this as something that would give you the idea that we're all too busy to even notice the small things in life, specifically energy efficiency in our homes. You see, unscrewing these bulbs and replacing them with fluorescent lamp lights could reduce your actual energy bills by up to 25%. This is because these bulbs eat up a lot of energy, and give off less light than the fluorescent types. Think of it as getting more and giving less. Now isn't that an idea worth a thousand light bulbs up that head of yours?
Wednesday, April 25. 2007
Probably, fluorescent lamp lights are among the best examples of the phrase "getting more and giving less", which I coined up from a damn good idea. These fluorescent lamp lights would provide your home more efficiency when it comes to house lighting. But, it wouldn't cost you as much as how light bulbs do on your actual energy bills. So a good thing for you to do, in case you want to save some of the hard-earned cash you're shelling out for your home's energy, is to unscrew those light bulbs. Yes, and replace them with fluorescent lamp lights.

In this modern digital world of ours, we tend to miss the simple things which would make our lives more convenient and affordable. If we want to save on our energy bills, we get all kinds of high-tech equipment that would cost us more rather than what we save on our energy bills! Talk about dumbasses, man! So here's a simple trick which would make you think twice about energy efficiency and complicated energy saving tools: reversing ceiling fans in winter saves energy.
Monday, April 23. 2007
You see, what cools your home on those hot summer days could heat you up in those dark winter seasons! No, there's no need to call a damn scientist or something to explain just how and why this could be done. This is just about what elementary science taught us: damn cold air is dense, thus it sinks; and warm air rises 'cause it's less dense than cold air. Armed with enough knowledge on this, don't you think reversing the blades of your damn ceiling fan would make the warm air continuously drop on top of the people in your house?
Sunday, April 22. 2007
This can be done in just a few easy steps, you know. First, most ceiling fans have a damn switch or something for the job. But just in case it doesn't have one, you should consider tweaking the shitty ceiling fans of your crappy home! If you don't know how to do it, you shouldn't try, you know. You might just end up toasting yourself than actually saving on your damn energy bills. What you should do in case you don't actually have the expertise to do such a job is, of course, call someone who does! Just make sure this guy doesn't rip you off your hard-earned cash.
Saturday, April 21. 2007
In this modern information age, isn't it a bit out of whack when we could access the information we need and yet end up with no time to know such things? Yes, we're just too damn busy to even mind our own business! But what most people know is that living life on the fast lane generally makes our electricity bills soar to heights unimaginable. Yes, especially with all these shit brought about by technology, you know. If convenience has a price, then reducing bills with a damn good energy auditor is among the best ways to do just so.
Friday, April 20. 2007
Since we don't have the time to efficiently gauge our home's energy consumption levels, what pops up in our minds is, of course, to hire someone to do it for us. Now wouldn't that be convenient? If we have our own jobs to do and no time to work on anything else, then reducing our energy consumption bills is definitely a job for a good energy auditor. Just make damn sure you don't end up with one that would rip you off! These people usually do a good job in carefully studying which household equipment needs to be replaced. In fact, these people know which equipment is just right for our finances. Just think about investing on damn things you know nothing about, yet think of it as a good energy saving venture. You'd probably end up with more bills to pay!

I do not like the idea of joining a carpool, even if it means that I am doing the environment a favor of saving it from hazardous car smoke, saving cheap sum of money for gas, meeting new faces and socializing with long time neighborhood friends, and other crappy and outdated reasons that most people brag on that they want to share a ride with a lot of people.
My annoyance to such energy saving crap is mainly due to the stingy point of actually sharing a single car with three or more people. I do not care if they're my friends, officemates, or what. I just do not like the idea of a noisy and chattery environment while on the road. I mean, who would want to be distracted while you are driving? You might say that I'm no fun and such a loner. Well, maybe I am, but I certainly do not care, as long as I have my everyday quiet and leisurely drive to wherever destination I wish to go to. Going to the saving fuel and money for gas part, I guess it is indeed a nice way to save gas and money, but hey, if I can still afford to maintain and use my auto, why bother to carpool? Even if I did share a ride with other folks, my beautiful car will definitely get wasted by savage passengers, and I really do not want that for my baby. As for the saving the environment from air pollution crap, thousands of people are already claiming that they are doing everything they can to help save mother Earth. But guess what? Our poor ozone layer in the atmosphere is still deteriorating. So much for goody carpool ideas!

A study shows that one typical US household spends at least $1500 yearly on house utility bills alone. A big portion of which waste energy, while the electricity created from fossil fuels contribute carbon dioxide in the air. Also, the use of vehicle accounts for more than 60 percent of all oil consumption in US. With regard to such alarming energy issue, home and car energy saving means can be done to resolve energy problems on energy consumption. In saving energy at home, owners can even get financial rewards out of it. Saving energy not just makes your home a comfortable place to live in, it will surely cut down a good chunk from your high utility bill. To conserve energy in an easy low cost and no cost ways, the following tips might be helpful in one's money and home energy saving means, especially during tough financial time.
It is important to set the thermostat in a comfortably low level, especially during the winter season, and set it in a comfortable high level in summer. One can also install programmable thermostat, but make sure that it is compatible in a house's cooling and heating system. Also, home electronics like TV, DVD, etc. should be plugged into a power strip. When appliances are not being used, make it a point to turn off the power since most home electronics still consume several power watts even in a standby mode. Moreover, it is also advisable to lower thermostat on a home's water heater. Short showers are better, instead of long baths. When one is doing laundry or washing the dishes, it is best to wash clothes and dishes in full loads. In driving, one does not have to be aggressive, a sensible and cool drive is better since speeding and rapid acceleration wastes an awful lot of gasoline.

Every one has a basic idea on how to save energy in their home with all the reminders presented by the media and by energy conservation movements. The home isn't the only place that needs to follow energy saving tips and rules, even businesses, be it large or small, should to their part in conservation. Just because they earn money doesn't mean they should let loose and be callous about their electricity bills, right?
There are numerous ways on how businesses could conserve precious energy without compromising the comfortable environment that both its employees and customers enjoy. Unless your office is located 10 floors below the basement of the building, use natural day light for illumination. Dim the lights or shut it off during the middle of the day and remove lightings that are not really necessary. There are some offices that still use incandescent bulbs, it is advisable the fluorescent lamps should be used. Not only does it provide better lighting, it also lasts longer. One of the most helpful tools in energy conservation is occupancy sensors. They are inexpensive and can reduce about 40% of lighting cost by shutting the lights off in vacant areas.
The lighting cost isn't the only thing you can reduce in your office. By installing time clocks or programmable thermostats, the settings of heating systems and air conditioners can automatically be controlled. When it gets too hot or too cold, the equipment will either lower its setting or shut down which could save a lot of money. There are other ways to conserve energy in your office but we'll save that for the future.

People have the notion that saving energy in their homes does not in any way help the environment. But this kind of mindset is totally wrong. Here's why. When you save energy, naturally you save electricity, by doing so we burn less fossil fuels which help the environment recuperate from the effects of global warming.
Global warming does immense damage to our planet by trapping gases in the atmosphere which causes an abnormal increase in the Earth's temperature. By burning fossil fuels we add up to the distressing effects of global warming in our environment. Coal, petroleum and natural gas are some of the examples of fossil fuels. These fossil fuels are commonly used in homes, industries or cars to supply power and electricity. Imagine our planet without them.
Burning fossil fuels can lead to terrible environmental degradation especially in the Earth's atmosphere. Global warming may lead to changes in climate. And these climate changes may have serious impact on us humans and all the other organisms on Earth due primarily to changing rainfall patterns, rising sea level and even melting of the polar ice caps.

Sometimes people get so stubborn they either forget or just intentionally dismiss the basics of saving energy. Let me rub it in you, not gently, but ever so harsh.
Turn off all the home appliances which are not in use, not including the refrigerator because, of course, the food will spoil. For saving electricity in refrigerators, just make sure you defrost it at least once a month so that you can maximize the cooling capability of your refrigerator. Switching off your appliances is one thing, but have you noticed that there are certain appliances that have a standby mode? They still consume electricity although not as much.
If you are relying on your microwave oven for looking at the time of the day, better just buy a clock that runs on batteries. It's more practical because it saves energy and saves money too. Also, give your children a designated time to use the computer, past the computer curfew use, you must strictly implement your rules. You might think that these tips are so old. But just to remind you, many people forget about this. It's so simple. It's a wonder why many neglect following these.
