Getting just the right insulation materials for your pipes would not only save more on your monthly energy bills, but it would also keep you and your house safe from fires. Take something that could be wrapped up around constantly hot pipes. Hard rubber insulation materials would be the best option, since this stuff doesn't burn itself with the temperature levels your actual water heater could muster. Another good move for you to take would be to consult the manufacturer of your functional water heater regarding the best insulation materials to use in wrapping up your pipes.

I think plastic insulation materials are definitely out of the question since this stuff burns up easily with just low to moderate temperature levels.
