That is, until certain companies named Nanosolar, Nanosys, and Konarka have all decided to use nanotechnology in tapping
solar power as a renewable energy source. The first two companies operate in the area of Palo Alto, while the latter is based in Lowell. These companies have stated that most of the research they are doing on solar energy is directed at making the collection of the solar power a more cost-effective and efficient process. They have said that in using nanotechnology to produce small solar cells, a cost-effective and efficient means of tapping solar power as a renewable energy source is highly attainable. That is, if these small light-collecting solar panels would be built within construction materials used for the roofs and walls of buildings and homes. These small solar panels would then provide energy as efficient as what the world is now using, but a lot more affordable, too!
