There's a lot ways to conserve electricity. One of them is through cutting down of our cooling bill. Actually, you can do it in a number of ways. First, adjust your
air conditioner thermostat to 75 degrees. You can also use portable fans and ceiling fans to circulate air. Also, open the windows early in the morning to cool air inside and close them later in the day when the temperature goes up. Another way is by closing your blinds and curtains in the afternoon to lower the amount of sunlight that heats up your home. Use also microwaves or fix cold meals on hot days to keep your appliances from warming up your home. It is advisable to hang the laundry on a clothesline to avoid warming up your home with a clothes dryer. It is recommended to run dishwasher, clothes dryer, etc. in the evening when it's cooler.
You can also
plant deciduous trees in the yard to provide shade during the summer. Also, make sure your home is well insulated. Take the shower during the middle of the day and use cool water to help cool yourself off. Every month, make sure that you clean your air conditioner filters. Replace them every after three months. Furthermore, close vents to rooms you don't use often and avoid them being blocked by furniture, carpeting, etc. When not inside the kitchen and bath, turn off the fans there. Make sure you do not put lights or heat producing appliances or electronics near your air conditioner's thermostat. Also, use window treatments that filter the sunlight during the day. In case you are building or remodeling your house, use a passive solar design. Lastly, it is recommended to install the most efficient cooling system you can afford.
